Initial and follow-up examinations consist of case history,
orthopedic, neurologic tests and spinal range of motion studies. When necessary x-rays
are taken in our office and MRI ordered locally. Referral to medical
specialists is always considered when necessary.
- Manipulation
-
Joint manipulation, often called an adjustment, is a therapy
designed to improve the mobility of a damaged joint. It is
accomplished by applying controlled pressure so as to stretch and
release tissue adhesions formed during the healing process of an old
injury. In the spine, this primarily involves the facet joints
which interlock in pairs between the vertebral segments.
- Intersegmental Traction
-
A relaxing therapy that gently rocks and stretches spinal
joints using rollers that pass along the spine as the patient lies on a special table.
- Swedish Massage
-
Our licensed massage therapist performs this gentle
manual therapy in a private and comfortable room for the purpose
of inducing relaxation.
- Percussion Massage
-
This pleasant therapy utilizes a mechanical device that gently
and quickly taps the surface of the body to stimulate blood and
lympathatic circulation helping to relax tight muscles.
- Vibratory Massage
-
More vigorous than percussion massage, this therapy uses a
vibrating applicator that we use to help release tissue adhesions,
relax tight muscles and stimulate joint movement. Most people
find this a very comfortable therapy.
- Electrotherapy
-
Interferential current uses 4 adhesive pads that pass a mild
comfortable electric current between the pads to help reduce pain.
- Rehabilitation Exercise
-
We use our 6 Nautilus type machines to further improve spinal
joint and muscle function by repetitive motion in a safe and
controlled manner.
- Spinal Decompression
-
Our spinal decompression table utilizes variable traction to
gently separate the joints of the neck or low back to reduce pressure
caused by a bulging, herniated or ruptured disc. This is a
proven conservative therapy for spinal stenosis and can eliminate the
need for disc surgery by improving the integrity of the disc.
